SENIOR DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

STIHL Romania is seeking a skilled senior database administrator to join our global IT team. In this role, you'll play a key part in maintaining and improving our database landscape, ensuring performance, reliability, and security across multiple systems. You're a Great Fit If:

  • You have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in database administration
  • You have solid expertise in Oracle databases, including SAP on Oracle
  • You have experience working with MS SQL, SAP MaxDB, and PostgreSQL
  • You have strong command-line skills and are comfortable with shell scripting
  • You have a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • You are comfortable working across Windows, UNIX, and Linux environments
  • You have a strong focus on security and always follow best practices
  • You are an independent thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You have effective communication skills and are confident working in multicultural teams
  • You are flexible and open to adapting to changing tasks and priorities
  • You are a strategic thinker with a structured, methodical approach to challenges
  • You are a team player who shares knowledge, supports your colleagues, and takes ownership
  • You have fluent English skills, both written and spoken.  

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • You’ll install, upgrade, and patch databases to ensure optimal system functionality
  • You'll manage backup, restore, and recovery processes to keep our data safe and available
  • You’ll execute system copies when needed to support project work or maintenance tasks
  • You’ll regularly perform health checks, analyze findings, and apply necessary improvements
  • You'll harden databases to meet STIHL's internal security standards
  • You’ll tailor and configure database systems to fit STIHL’s technical environment
  • You’ll monitor the database landscape, keeping an eye on performance and availability
  • You’ll handle incidents and troubleshoot database-related issues
  • You’ll analyze application performance and help optimize system behavior.
