Network Engineer

STIHL Romania is looking for a skilled Network Engineer to join our global IT team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for supporting and maintaining the company’s group-wide network infrastructure. From switches and routers to Wi-Fi and firewalls, you’ll ensure that our data network is secure, reliable, and high performing. Working across Level 1 to Level 3 network topics, you'll contribute directly to our operational stability and global connectivity. You're a Great Fit If:

• You hold a degree in IT, Telecommunications, or a related field
• You have a solid understanding of network infrastructure and protocols, especially TCP/IP and network security principles
• You have at least 2 years of hands-on experience configuring and managing Cisco switches, access points, and router (including Catalyst Center and APIC)
• You’re experienced with firewall solutions (preferably Fortinet), including setup, administration, and maintenance
• You understand data center networking concepts, architectures, and hybrid data center environments
• You’re familiar with modern network security frameworks like Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and capable of designing and supporting such solutions
• You have experience supporting network design and implementation, including automation practices (e.g. Infrastructure as Code)
• You have strong communication skills and are fluent in English (spoken and written); (German is a plus)
• You’re analytical, detail-oriented, and thrive on solving problems quickly and efficiently
• You are proactive, structured, and take ownership of your work
• You enjoy collaborating with international teams and working across time zones.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• You’ll manage and maintain the company’s network infrastructure, including switches, routers, access points, firewalls, and Wi-Fi systems—both at the edge and in the data center
• You’ll support group-wide network services and project delivery, ensuring that each initiative meets agreed timelines, scope, and budget
• You’ll actively contribute to designing and implementing new network solutions and assist in troubleshooting issues that arise
• You’ll follow and help enforce global network and security standards, ensuring compliance in every change you make
• You’ll create and maintain documentation, standardize processes, and ensure every infrastructure change is properly recorded
• You’ll monitor network performance and availability using approved tools to ensure a high level of service and operational uptime
• You’ll collaborate with vendors and global IT teams to address hardware and performance issues promptly and effectively.
